McKee, David

While Funeral Was Being Held Father of Reese McKee Dies at Shawnee
While the funeral of his son was being held in the Opera house, David McKee of Shawnee died at his home Tuesday afternoon without even knowing of the death of his son. The son, Reese McKee, was the conductor who was killed while at work in the Z. & W. yards at Drakes, and at the time that his father passed away, the funeral was being held in the opera house which was crowded with railroad men who had come to attend the last sad rites over the remains. The father had been sick for a long time from a cancer. He had taken months of treatment for the affliction, and last summer underwent an operation at the city hospital in Zanesville. It was not cured; however, and since that time had suffered greatly. When the son was killed he was in so low a condition physically, that the doctors did not deem it wise to tell him of the terrible accident, and he remained in ignorance of the truth until the end. With their hearts torn with grief over the death of the son and brother, the members of the family were nearly prostrated by the demise of the elder Mr. McKee. He was a man of about 65 years of age and is survived by a wife, and several children.
